PARÂMETROS GENÉTICOS EM PROGÊNIES DE POLINIZAÇÃO ABERTA DE Cordia trichotoma (Vell.) ex Steud.

The aim of this work was to estimate the genetic parameters for grown and stem form traits in 22 open-pollinated families of Cordia trichotoma, originated from Bauru, São Paulo State, Brazil, 19 years old, implanted in Luiz Antonio, São Paulo State, Brazil. The variance analysis detected significant difference among families to DBH, steam form and volume. The difference between the highest and the lowest average values of families grown from DBH, height, form, volume and survival rate was 87.3%, 42.4%, 77.6%, 156.6%, and 61.2%, respectively. The coefficient of genetic variance for DBH and volume was high (> 10%). The values of individual narrow sense ( h2 i ) and within families (h2 d) heritability coefficients were low (< 0.2) for height and stem form traits, but these values were high for DBH and volume traits (varying from 0.29 to 0.65), indicating possibilities to obtain genetic gains on selection at traits and between families. The estimates of mean heritability ( h2 m ) were low for plant height (0.12), but high for the other traits, varying from 0.46 (form) to 0.77 (DBH) and indicating the possibility to obtain considerable gains on selection of the best families. The expected genetic gains with selection within families to DBH, height, stem form and volume were 17.43%, 1.02%, 2.66%, and 18.72%, respectively. The expected were predicted for Cordia trichotoma plantations 19 years old, growing under similar environmental conditions to the Luiz Antonio, SP.
