In December, 1973 a provenance test of Araucaria angustifolia was established in Itapeva Experimental Station, São Paulo State, Brazil, with five provenances, 64 individuals per plot and 6 replicates. In 1981 the trial was submitted to systematic cutting from 50% of the trees. The distribution of the variation among and within provenances for height and DBH was investigated at 2, 6 and 30 years old, and the volume at 30 years old. Variation analysis for all traits and years of evaluations revealed significant genetic differences among provenances. From total phenotypic variation, 5.45% to 15.18% were finding among provenance. Provenance from Campos do Jordão (SP) was the best for grown among all traits and Bom Jardim (SC) was the worst. Negative correlation between performance of provenances and their origin latitudes were observed, indicating that north provenances of natural species distribution grow more in the environmental conditions of Itapeva Experimental Station than south provenances.
