PARÂMETROS GENÉTICOS EM PROGÊNIES DE POLINIZAÇÃO ABERTA DE Pinus caribaea var. bahamensis, AOS 22 ANOS DE IDADE

The aims of this work were to estimate the genetic parameters for grown and form traits in 23 open-pollinated families of Pinus caribaea var. bahamensis, at 22 years old, implanted in Bebedouro, São Paulo State. The variance analysis detected significant differences at 5% of probability among families to real volume, indicating the possibility of genetic gains through selection. The difference between height and lower average of progeny volume grown was 42%. The estimates of coefficient of genetic variance for all traits were reasonable and higher than estimates at five years old. The values of the coefficients of individual narrow sense (h2 i ) and within families heritabilities ( h2 d ) were low (0.01) for all traits, indicating few possibilities to obtain genetic gains with selection. However, the estimates of family heritability ( h2 m ) were mediums, varying from 0.27 (DBH) to 0.45 (height) and indicating the possibility to obtain considerable gains with selection of the best families. The expected genetic gains with section were 4.46, 4.24, 6.82 and 14.20% to DBH, height, stern form and volume, respectively. These predicted gains are for P. caribaea var. bahamensis plantations at 22 years of age growing in similar environments to the Bebedouro, SP.
