Aspects relating to the maturation phenology of Inga utuguensis Hook. et Arn. were studied m a natural population located in a riparian forest on the right margin of the Moji Guaçu river, municipality of Moji Guaçu, SP. Phenological observations were conducted in the períod from August 1990 to February 1992, and were brought to a conclusion when seed production was completed. Results indicated that for the area and study periods, Inga utuguetisis concentrates flowering and fructification in a single period of the year, i.e., during the rainy season. Flowering started in September/October and frutification in October/November. At 142 days in the first year and 132 days in the second year after flowering, the seeds showed the highest vigor and germina tive power values. The chemical composition of the seeds did not have significative alteration, but the pulp total carbohidrat content had a significative increment during the maturation processo Field observation revealed that monkeys and birds ingest seeds and act more as potential predators than dispersers. This hypothesis is based on the high number of damaged fruit - 65.61% in 1991 and 44.78% in 1992 - found on the trees or on the ground. The main visitors were birds of the Psittacideae family, such as the "tuim" (Forbus xanthopterigiuS) and, most frequently, the "maritaca-verde" (Pionus maximiliam) and the "sauá"-monkey (Cellicebus personatus).
