Abstract

This work analyses the genetic structure of 17-year-old jequitibá-rosa (Cariniana legalis (Mart.) O. Ktze.) populations in two locations in São Paulo State, with the purpose of evaluating this ex situ conservation genetic method. The matenal in a compact family block design was evaluated for 4 quantitative traits and 14 isoenzyme Ioci. Quantitative trait and isoenzymes analysis indicated only a few differences among populations. There was a larger proportion of genetic variability within populations, especially among individuais within of families. However,. comparing isoenzyme patterns in São Paulo State and Espírito Santo State populations, larger genetic divergences were observed (9.3%), suggesting isolation by distance. Analysis of variance revealed moderate leveis of genefic variability among families/population, for three populations. Even so,- isoenzynies showed high and similar heterozygosity for three populations (H: 0.263 to 0.283; H: of 0.348 to 0 . .,66). Excess ºhomozygosity within families was detected, in relation to expected Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium (EHW) (H: 0.220 to 0.249). Finally, the -.relation between number effective size and sample size (N I an) was 36% (0.16) smaller than expected in an ideal population (0.25), therefore, the genetic variability retain in ex situ bank is small than expected front large panmitic populations.
