ANÁLISE ECONÔMICA DO PLANTIO DO PAU-MARFIM (Balfourodendron riedelianum Engler)

Abstract

The objective of the present paper was to analyze the economic or financial viability of plantation with . Baljàurodendron riedelianum Engler for log production. The current analysis considered 4 alternatives: the purchase of seedlings and of land by the fanner; the purchase of seedlings and the lease of land by the farmer; the donation of seedlings by the government and the purchase of land by the farmer; and, the donation of seedlings IJy the government and the lease by the farmer. The used method was benefit cost analysis (BCA). The analysis was dcterministic and used different discount rates varying from 6% to 20% per year. For interest rates smaller than 9% and larger than 11% per year, ali the projects were, respectively, viable and unviable economically. Between these two values, the economic viability depends on the project type. From the presented alternatives, two solutions unproved the estimates: the donation of seedlings by the government and the lease of land by the farmer. Other cxperiments should be performed to observe the effects of larger scales.
