Thc aim of this work was thc soil charactcrization occu rring in "Agua da Cachoeira" little hydrographical basin, crcck supply Paraguaçu Paulista town. The arca of study is located Paraguaçu Paulista municipality, São Paulo State, Brazil, in the Occidental Platcau of São Paulo, with tropical forest vegctation and cerrado, and the prevailing regional climate is Cwa type Koppen, identified as dry winter mesothermic. This arca is represented as Quatemary superficial sedirnents and Bauru Sandstones group Marilia and Adamantina formations. The five soil mapping units found were: Dystrophic Dark-Red Latosols, medium texture (Ferric acrorthox), Eutrophic Red-Yellow Podzolic Soil, sandy/mediurn texture (Abruptie Palcudalfs); Dystrophie Red-yellow Podzolic Soils, sandy/medium texture (Abruptie Palcudalfs): Dystrophic Low Humie Glcy Soils, sandy texture (Arenic Haplaqucprs) and Eutrophic Alluvial Soils, sandy texture (Arcnie Eutrochrepts). The analvsis and interpretation of the results perrnitted the following conclusions: the latosols dont present limitation to intensive use with simple practices of the tillage soil: the podzolie soils have high crosivity. presenting limitation to use, commended onesclf to make use with forest and environment recover area; the gly soils. at the risk of overflowing. are indicated to recovcr of the environment and the alluvial soils are recommended only to recornposition of the nativo forest.
