Abstract

In order to analyse the development of the species Eucalyptus pseudoglobulus and Eucalyptus maidenii in São Paulo State, a field trial was established in Itapeva using provenances from Australia. The seeds were collected and sent to the Instituto Florestal by the Forestry Commission of Tasmania. At eleven (11) years old, the results showed significant differences for the means of height and diameter at breast height (DBH)between the provenances of E. pseudoglobulus and significant differences for the means of height and survival among the provenances of E. maidenii, A selective tliinning was performed at this age (11 years old) and, even two years later, the results continued to follow the same trends. The Kuark - Wibens Hill provenance of E. pseudoglobulus and the Mt. Dromedary provenance of E. maidenii showed the best means of growth. A preliminary test presented high yield of essential oils for alI provenances of the two species.
