This studv is an analvsis of litter production, bascd OÍl data collcctcdin thc Atlantic Rain Forest, Boracéia Biological Station from 1985 to 1987 (during 24 months). Thc littcr was scparatcd to lcavcs, branchcs and other parts likc flowcrs, fruits and seeds. Thc pcrccntagc of cach was rated. Thc armual littcr production is 6054.10 kg.ha where the lcaves fraction contributcs with 72.73%; branchcs with 16.09% and thc othcr parts with 11.29%. Thcsc valucs are bclow avcragc levels for Tropical Forests. Thc monthly litter production does not show sharp changc with thc scasons. Nutrient conccntration in thc litter was: N = 1.73 %; P = 0.06%; K = 0.26%; Ca = 0.54%; Mg = 0.23% and S = 0.18% and thc nutricnt avera~e translocatcd by litter, in kg.hal.yr', is 105.24 tor N; 3.41 for P; 14.76 for K; 32.83 for Ca; 14.72 for Mg and 11.69 for S.
