OBSERVAÇÕES SOBRE O COMPORTAMENTO DE EUTERPE EDULIS MART. (PALMITO-DOCE) EM MATA CILIAR

The experiments were realized to verify the viability of cultivation of Euterpe edulis Mart., heart's of palm plant, in gallery forest as well as to determine the best planting method, consisting basically of two ways: direct sowing (previously unpulped seeds), and stocks (with 25 cm height and 1 year old). The cultivation cares consisted only of weeds remova!. Measurements were taken at 2 years as well as at 3 years and 4 months and 4 years and 4 months after implantation. The results of the direct sowing showed that the percentage of germination in the field was 70%, with 34% of survival of the seedlings, and the height of the plants passed from 20 cm to 47 cm and 65 cm and the number of leafs from 3 to 3,51 and 3,90 ín the first, second and third measurements. The results of the seedlings indicated a rate of 76% of survival of the seedlings, while the height of the plants passed from 54 cm to 89 cm and 105 cm and the number of leafs from 3,45 to 3,72 and 3,90 respectively, in the first, second and third measurements. The results of this experiment show evidence that better results of developmentwere obtained in plants where plantation was undertaken with stocks. However, through direct sowing the inicial implantation costs were lower.
