The Botanical Garden and Zoo of the Federal University of Acre has a 100 hectare area situated on the university campus, north of the city of Rio Branco. The reasons for creating this park are varicue ranging from scientific studies to teaching activities with the community. One of the basic aims of this park is to form an environmental mentality of attitude, discussing the interaction of man and nature and focusing specially on the Amazônia reality. Among the many activities, the ones that stand out are the production of seedligs native of the Amazon region, environmental education on the schools of Rio Branco, rural and urban communities area, with emphasis on the research of native species, some exotic and the implantation of an herbarium.
