Needles from Iitterfall of 15 years old Araucaría angustifolia plantations in three different sites were analysed for macronutrient conten!. Quantities of nutrients returned per hectare with needlefall were calculated and the sites compared. In ali sites Ca returned in higher quantities, followed by N > Mg > K and P. Slight differences (4 to 9%) were found between the good and medium quality site regarding deposition of N, P, Ca and Mg, with a higher difference (20%) in the deposition of K. In the worst site, deposition of ali nutrients except Mg was 14 to 26% smaller. The smallest deposition of Mg ocurred in the medium quality site. The quantity of needlefall, more than their nutrient content determined the quantity of nutrients returned in each site.
