Gemmuled, natural management, future treeAbstract
Itis called gemmuled the forest speciesthat produces buds destined to regeneration. These buds appear spontaneouslywhen the main bud, ormother-tree, reaches its maturity. When the adult trunk is cut space is opened to the bud which, by getting more lightening and the radicular volume from the mother-tree, will have a rapid growth. The gemmuled species are important to the natural management, which is a system for a reasonable exploitation of the forest resources that maintain the biodiversity, the wood primitive structure and its delicate ecological balance. The objective of the natural management is to speed up the development of the future trees, as well as to augmentthe volume and the quantitative value of wood. Such a management leads, relatively, to high rates of volumetrical increment per are a unit, as the first measurements done demonstrate. The following gemmuled species were observed: canela-amarela (Ocotea aciphy/la), canela-fogo (Cryptocarya archersoniana), canela-garuva (Nectandra rigida), canela-pimenta (Ocoteapulchella), canela-prego (Ocotea sp), corticeira (Rollinia sericea), pau-de-facho ou pau-taquara (Aparisthmium cordatum) e canela-sassafrás (Ocotea pretiosa).
