The propagation of Maytenus ilícito/ia by seeds was obtained in the field with system of sample that get these seeds with valves open, red-dark colour, and aril exposed. The seedswent to germination immediately after collection and removal of aril, and showed germination levels into 75 - 80% at 30 days old. The "espinheira-santa" plants growth was slow until its seventh month. In the next 5 months the height reached 25 cm, when then it could be able to go to the field. While in the formation seedling phase, it showed great fitossanitary quality and didn't make use of any agricultural defense.
