This paper describes the potential of establishing an atlantic forest remnants reserve belonging to the São Paulo State University (UNESP) at Botucatu, SP, for biodiversity conservation and the development of the wise use approach in integrated management of the regional natural resources present on its boundaries. It presents a detailed description of the area, some preliminary results of the researches that are being carried out and a discussion about the short, median and long term action strategies looking forward to the the maintenance of essencial ecological processes and its ecosystems, as well as the restoration of degraded areas.
