Objecting to implant "Núcleo Picinguaba", in the extreme north of Serra do Mar State Park, in Ubatuba municipality, unique place where the park lower limits come to the sea, enclosing shoals, swamps, mangroves and rocky coasts, the Instituto Florestal made accords with the autarchy Superintendência para o Desenvolvimento do Litoral Paulista and the agency World Wildlife Fund. To revert the accentuated process of degradation that was touching on the area, which has a big tourist value, the project gave priority to inspection actions, hiring servants and acquiring vehicles and equipments. Inspection stations, office, visitor's center, lodgings and other public structures were built, developing activities like environmenta! education and scientific researches. The degradation process was interrupted, through the application of the environmental protection legislation in a systematic and efficient way can be applied in the natural areas where the State doesn't have effective dominion.
