This paper deals with a detailed hydrogeomorphological study of a pluvial drainage area on the low slopes of the Serra do Mar (Cubatão region, SP). We intend to understand better the instability problems on the area, in order to minimize the impacts due to its development and subsidize the "Plano de Manejo do Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar" that is being prepared. This area includes 0,63 ha on the left bank of the Pilões river, a tributary of the Cubatão river. The data was obtained using the photointerpretation technique and mainly using field work. The mapping points out the existence of channels formed by the torrential flowing-off. These channels have varied width depth and processes of deposit, following the differentation on the topomorphotological compartments. The morphology of the channels and slope is characterized by the retaking of the pluvio erosion in deposition relief, on ali the studied area. The northeastern and southeastern parts of this sector have structural and litogical characteristics that are fundamental to the local hidromorphology.
