NOVAS POPULAÇÕES DO MICO-lEÃO CAlÇARA, LEONTOPITHECUS CAISSARA (LORINI & PERSSON, 1990) NO SUDESTE DO BRASIL (PRIMATES - CALLITRICHIDAE)

The aim of this study concerns the distribution of the populations of Leontopithecus caissara in the State of São Paulo, Southern Brazil. The locality-type of this species is Superaguí (25° 18'S,48° 11'W) PR, an island where it was described, and the adjacent areas in the continent. Our investigation shows adjacent areas in the State of São Paulo where 3 populations where found, 130 km2 away from the original ones already described. We also report data on the biology of L.caissara.
