Abstract

The responsible use of the natural resourcewater is indispensable to the planet life maintenance. The effluents treatment systems and subsequent destination of the water have been most studied and divulged ali over the world. At DURAFLORA S.A. it is being studied and applied an effluent depollution system with use of the principies of flotation, decantation and fitopurification. These effluents are supplied from machineries and vehicles wash-stands; and they constitute of a mixture of petroleum derivatives, soaps, water, non degradable detergents and clays. The project's implantation was made in November 1990, in the Missioneira Farrn, Itapetininga District, S.Paulo State, Brazil, The systems are composed basically by impermeabilized waterways, solids and liquids separation boxes, dams and dikes which contain water hyacinths (Elchhornia crassipes). The treatment capacity is 3000 liters of effluents by day. The final water quality gauging has been made by Soroterodon sp breeding in the last dam and chemistry and biologic analysis of water will be provided. To the conditions in which the system has been used, its applicability is reliable and it is benefiting the riparian forests and water sources neighboring ecosystems.
