Chlorophyll and carotinoids content of Tabebuia alba and Pittosporum undulatum was determined in order to verify the effect of air pollution on leaf pigments. Trees growing in central parks of Curitiba were considered as severe polluted sampleswhilethosegrowing in protected parks of city suburbs were used as low polluted ones. Stressed plants of both species showed higher concentration of chlorophyll (a + b) and lower amount of carotinoids. The relation Cb:Ca was significantly higher in polluted plants, due to their higher amount of chlorophyll b than protected ones. Also the relation chlorophyll:carotinoids was 3 and 5 times higher. The carotinoids content and its relation to chlorophyll was considered as a sensible bioindicator to air pollution.
